Location: Naval Support Facility Indian Head is located less than 30 miles from Washington, DC. Naval Support Facility Indian Head is home to more than six major commands. The military community on board the installation represents a diverse and strategically important mix of research and development activities, alongside operational support programs that are protecting the U.S. homeland from terrorist threats as well as serving U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Army forces deployed worldwide on a daily basis.

Housing: There are 136 enlisted single family quarters, and 15 officer housing quarters.  Five of the base homes are designed for disability accessibility.  There is usually a waiting list for government quarters. Waiting lists are based on family size and rank. Waiting times may fluctuate depending on the number of homes becoming available and the rotation dates of current residents.
