Base Apartments. If your soldier is a major and is assigned to ILE at Redstone Arsenal, there are a few areas where people are housed on-base for the 15 week course. We are in the 1400 buildings, which are old and have some cockroach issues. However, it is adequately furnished, much more spacious than we expected (1 bedroom, 1 office, 1 storage room, kitchen, dining area for four, living room and bathroom), comes equipped with central air and wireless internet, and has the bonus of a private porch or patio. Bring your own patio furniture (2-4 chairs and a table is all that will fit). A free breakfast is served at the hotel, and room service is included for your apt. Within a two mile radius, there is a commissary, PX, 4 gyms, a running trail, 3 outdoor pools, and a cheap gas station. Nashville is 90 minutes away, and Chattanooga is less than 2 hours away. There are not many spouses here with our group, but I think it's a great place to come spend a slower-paced summer together.
