"Great Lakes Military Housing, AWAY from the base!"
If you're PCS'ing to Great Lakes, and do NOT want to put your children in the awful schools of North Chicago, this housing is for you! The drawbacks...these are only 2 bedroom townhomes. However, they are very spacious! TONS of storage! The schools here in Glenview are beyond AMAZING. K-2 is Westbrook School. 3-5 is Glen Grove School. 6-8 is Attea Middle School. Glenbrook South is the High School. (look up the reviews on greatschools.org) Many families here have 2 or more kids. It's not always ideal, but you can't pass up the education! It's around 20 miles south of the base. 25-30 minutes door to door. We have 4 little parks with in the neighborhood. It's a mix of military and civilians.
