Camp Lejeune: New River Base Housing
New River Base Housing
On Camp Lejeune
"Experience May Vary"
New River base housing for the Officers is new and nice. It is right at the front of base and looks modern. A lot of them are stand alone structures. The enlisted is a completely different experience. Old and dilapidated, roaches and "water bugs" plague renters. Houses were built in the 50s and are patched up enough to flip to the next user. Openly admitted by the community center that asbestos was in the flooring, but there was enough lacquer on the floor that it "shouldn't be an issue". There are holes punched in the ceiling where the hot water heater lines run, which is in our master bedroom closet. We are here short term, but there is no way I would consider this to be acceptable for the rent that is paid to them monthly.

"New River Base Housing"
New River base housing is really nice. It’s all new, but you would be in traffic going to Lejeune. There are lots of people who live on New River base and commute to Camp Lejeune. The school on base at New River is great. It has beand new indoor pool and fitness facility. It’s has a nice quiet pace about it.
