Carlisle Barracks Installation is a small beautiful post with convenient access to all post services. Post housing is a diversified portfolio of historical and new generation premises. However, the methodology of the housing assignment staff to prospective residents is questionable for the following reasons,
-It seems they give to permanent party or long term residents least desirable housing in order to increase favorable housing inventory.
-Staff assignment of housing is confusing. An informal neighborhood survey found Officers with equal pay grade family with one child given single 4 bedroom house while assigning 3 bedroom duplex for 3 children family.
-Housing assignment is not transparent as compared to the rest of commercial property managers

The homes provided for the students here for a year are adequate, but small. At this stage of our Military careers, we have moved plenty, lived in larger homes, many with basements, and these duplex units are just not big enough to house our furnishings. The storage&closets are pretty accommodating, despite first impressions. Balfour Beatty who manages the housing does a good job keeping up the appearance and maintenance of the homes. The biggest draw back is no fences are allowed, despite over 50% of us own dogs. The best thing about this post is everything is close, PX, Commissary, Health Clinic, MWR, CYS, Police & Fire Dept.~ ALL within a half mile on Main Post.
