"Bangor East housing"

The buildings are old and the craftsmanship is shoddy at best. In every way they use the cheapest materials they can buy in bulk. They skip things like carpet padding between wood and carpet so we had to nail down SO many carpet tacks that stabbed our feet between rooms. Toilet wasn't mounted to the floor at move in, and the house was filthy. The people before us had a dog/s that made the house reek and carpets were still covered in the long beige fur. We have a "3" bedroom house, but one of the rooms is only 8 by 10 foot with a closet that is 1.5 by 2 feet. So one kid gets a room twice the size. You can't imagine the headache that is two kids fighting for the room that is MULTITUDES better than the other. They just redid all the fencing and every unit lost more than half their yard. Some yards are nothing but a fenced in 6 by 6 patio. So if you have a dog, your walking them or letting them learn pooping on pavement is acceptable. On that note, there is no pet waste enforcement so be prepared to smell dog poop constantly. Especially in summer when your no AC unit hits 105 degrees and you need airflow. Mmmm sunbaked dogpoop and stale urine. Just what you want to smell. So glad my neighbor's horse dog is one foot from my back door barking and pooping. -_- maintenance guys are really nice and prompt, but undersupplied and staffed. It's hard to do a good job fixing something when you are given cheap materials to do so. I've lived here for 7 years and actually avoid asking management for help because of how snide they can be when you have a problem. The only nice thing is the commissary/NeX and theatre/rec center are in walking distance to housing so you don't have to drive. So far I've lived here, in Groton CT, and grew up on Whidbey and have seen their housing. Bangor base ranks dead last by a wide margin. Whidbey has some beautiful newer homes and a TON of single family homes that are a little old, but not terrible and have HUGE yards. So they get first place. We are moving to Georgia next month, fingers crossed they are an improvement from Bangor.

"Bango/Kitsap Base Housing"

Bangor Base Housing is very nice and you have a choice of Central Kitsap schools or North. The Bangor Base housing is great because it’s in it’s own corner of base

Pros Cons
  1. Kitsap Schools
  2. Corner of base
