DownTown Prattville: Off Base Area of Town

This is a cool hidden gem - we take all family who visits here. We love supporting local shops and enjoying unique local attractions.
There is a beautiful river damn here which is unique and great for picture! We have gotten into the water before to swim which was refreshing in the Alabama heat. It is shallow so it's not really 'swimming' and there are rocks so be careful. I have seen people with chairs sitting on the bank of the water, people have taken their chairs into the shallowest parts near the damn to sit and enjoy the view and to get their feet in the water and even people with kayaks going downstream! There are a handful of local shops mostly clothing but also a cool huge teaching supply store kids would like, called The Turtle Shell. Before or after shopping, you can grab a pizza at Fox's pizza (only negative - they charge for water here) then a popsicle at Frios and walk around to see the founder's fountain and damn. Personally, my favorite place is around the corner - a large indoor antique shop called Prattville Pickers!
