Grand Forks Air Force Base: Off Base Area of Town

It is FREEZING. You'll repeat this several times while living here. Yes, it really is colder than Alaska. Yes, you can throw a boiling pot of water out the window and it'll freeze before it hits the ground. The housing is excellent, the schools are good, the people are great. Make good friends, bunker down, pull your boot on, work on your school (or any other inside activities you've been putting off), and put a pot of coffee on. You're going to be cold 9 months out of the year, but you'll survive. Make good friends. Stay positive. If you're not from the north, keep applying for special duties and overseas.

  • How would you describe this Area of Town: Outdoor Activities, Shopping, Neighborhood
  • Recommendations: I would avoid it if I could. I am not a fan of snow or cold. However, it is survivable. If you're from the north, you might really enjoy the area. If not-Go to school, volunteer, stay out of the house and stay active so the weather doesn't wear you down.
