Common Fence Point in Portsmouth, RI is on the north end of Aquidneck Island, across from Tiverton, RI. It is a quiet little community directly on the water with a marina and amazing views. It can feel nice to be removed from the Newport tourists and stop/go traffic, but also can sometimes feel isolated, as the locals outnumber military families. But the beauty of the views overrides the negatives. It is about 15-20 minutes drive to NS Newport (speed limit is about 25mph the entire drive), but if you take the back way (Burma Ln) to the back gate, you miss all the base traffic. Portsmouth also has the best schools on the island.
