San Antonio Riverwalk: Off Base Area of Town

When my husband and I were stationed at Randolph, we would come down to the Riverwalk almost every weekend. It is really beautiful down there. Between all the trees and the river water and all the waterfalls they have throughout the Riverwalk, it became a peaceful spot for us. I won't lie, during the weekends and and especially weekend evenings, it would get really busy, and sometimes crowded to walk around, but we would just go a little earlier in the evening and miss the crowd. The restaurants along the riverwalk were fantastic. I don't think we ate at one we didn't enjoy. We ate at Iron Cactus, which is a great Mexican place. We loved their table side guacamole. We also ate at Pasesanos Riverwalk, which is a great Italian place. I loved their wine selection and their pasta dishes. We also ate at Bellas on the River which is a little more pricey but their food is amazing. You take take little river cruises up and down the river and the guide explains the history behind the different buildings. If you are looking for a cool spot to hang out, my husband and I would highly recommend this place.
