Delaware Park: Off Base Neighborhood/Subdivision

"Delaware Park neighborhood"

The name of the neighborhood describes it as a park, and although there is a beautiful green space with walking trails and such, there are also some concerns if considering living in this neighborhood. It is within the Buffalo city limits and there is certainly a higher crime rate in this area. It borders Allentown and Elmwood areas so it still has a good variety of restaurants, coffee shops, and local artisan stores. The homes in this area are older homes, some historic. It is a mixed bag of homes that have been renovated and well cared for and then homes that have been cut up into apartments, and the facade of the home really needs some TLC. I would not recommend this neighborhood for families with young children. There are better schools in the suburbs of Buffalo, as well as areas with lower crime rates. This is definitely an area where you lock your car and home at night.
