"Prettiest scenery one could imagine!"

WA is a great place to live. Despite its bad reputation for rain, we quickly fell in love with the clean air, greenery, and great people. We had a hard time finding a nice house to rent near Bremerton/Bangor so we ended up buying. Our house overlooks Kitsap Lake with the Olympic Mountains in the background. I looked forward to opening my blinds every day as the scenery was absolutely amazing. No matter the weather, the view was a wonderful morning surprise. We loved walking, biking, or running around the lake (nearly a 4 mile loop), and enjoyed dining at the local restaurants (a few of which were in walking distance). There is a park with a big airplane, scout hut, and frisbee disc golf course nearby and Camp McKean Military Recreational facility too. People love to waterski and fish on the lake. So relaxing! Our neighbors were great and we've kept our friendships with them in the 2+ years that we've been gone. Less than 4 miles to the Bremerton Shipyard and less than 10 to Bangor.

  • Recommendations: There is a nice neighborhood across the street from Klahowya secondary school (maybe called Newberry Park?) and a few others in Poulsbo that I liked. We thought about living in Gig Harbor but, it was just too far of a drive for us. It was just really hard to find a quality house to rent that wasn't isolated or far away. I wouldn't live on base at either Bremerton or Bangor but, the houses at the Keyport Base aren't bad (but it is a bit of a drive to Bremerton). Many talked about living on Bainbridge Island but that was way too far away and not what I expected at all.
