Camp Mackall: Batan Housing
Batan Housing

"John Picerne should be forced to raise his kids HERE!"
Seriously ugly, badly maintained, almost definitely has lead+ asbestos and costs a fortune. What's not to love? Only upside is with the houses' ancient weather striping having almost completely rotted away and heat leaking in/out depending on the weather like a sieve, corvias and command were shamed into no longer charging us for our energy costs, which were obviously exorbitant and now I can finally keep the upstairs under 70% humidity without having to pay $60-70 a month for the privilege.

"Nice housing, Nothing extra special"
This is a nice neighborhood. We actually don't run into many of the people around here but there hasn't been any problems with noise, dogs, kids, etc. Everyone keeps to themselves and there isn't a lot of amenities close by. A few small swing sets and play areas.
The houses in this area are old. So they aren't the nicest thing you have lived in but they are pretty clean and well kept. Lots of bugs in the summertime so be ready for that, and in some homes the dishwashers don't open all the way because of where they had to put the new refrigerators in!
We like the area, but there isn't anything that we feel like we would be missing if we moved.

"Wouldn't choose to live here"
The neighborhood is alright, great location as we are right across the street from the commissary and px. As for the house itself, the paint has been piled on so thick that it peels from the walls and dents with the slightest pressure. The air conditioning has broken down 4 times in the 4 months we've lived here. Out window locks are broken. The plumbing was messed up upstairs so we had maintenance out to fix it. A lovely side affect of that was TONS of water spilling out through my kitchen cabinets downstairs and ruining our food and microwave. Appliances do not fit so there are huge holes around the dishwasher. Giant open gaps in the baseboards in the kitchens and bathrooms. The bug problem is crazy. Ants, spiders and roaches. I'm not talking small roaches either. I mean, it's a roof over our heads and I'm thankful for that but this place really sucks and if we had been in a position to where we didn't need to take a move in ready home, wouldn't have chosen this.
