"Fitch Park is friendly and fun!"
We had an excellent experience while stationed at NPS and living in Fitch Park. There are tons of kids and plenty of things to do. Community centers are able to accommodate any functions you want to host. We had lots of organized gatherings (though I was the one typically organizing) which made it fun and feel like home. We had fantastic neighbors, all military, mostly officers with some enlisted. Everyone there is typically at NPS or DLI. Lots of parks and sidewalks for walking. Wild turkeys, skunks, racoons, owls, deer, etc. can be spotted regularly. Neighborhood schools are awful so look into charters/private/homeschooling as you will be happier with these options. Very close to commissary and new community center with pool. I liked Fitch over Doe Park because the yards have grass and are more established. The compromise is better construction and established yards vs. wood floors and fans upstairs. Never gets hot enough to need fans though! Enjoy your time in Monterey!
