"Wilderness Cove"

Wilderness Cove is a clean and nice subdivision that’s family friendly. All of the homes are modern and lawns are well taken care of. It’s great to be able to walk your dogs and play outside with your kids while meeting friendly neighbors. There are many instructor pilots and their families who live here, so there’s always a friendly face nearby. Enid is fairly small, so it’s only a 15 minute drive to base and 5 to 10 minuets to various stores and restaurants.

Pros Cons
  1. Well maintained
  1. No sidewalks

"Family friendly"

This is an amazing neighborhood! Mostly military families with a couple local families and oil/gas company families. All the homes are fairly well kept, neighbors rarely get super rowdy, family friendly block party for the 4th of July, neighborhood garage sale, and neighborhood Facebook page. All that but without HOA fees! This neighborhood belongs to Glenwood/Waller/Enid HighSchool. Glenwood Elementary is rated the second best public school in Enid and has some FABULOUS staff! We only had one neighborhood crime reported in the last 3 years and it was someone who was quickly caught. They were checking cars for an unlocked door then looting the goods within. Not directly in the flight pattern always, and 12 minutes to base. Walking distance to donuts, snow cone shop, and a new gas station that has good pizza and slushies.

Pros Cons
  1. Great schools
  2. Great location
  3. Family friendly
  1. None

"Great community not too far from base"

Wilderness Cove is a wonderful, family friendly subdivision and home to a number of military families. The homes are somewhat newer and the streets are well paved (though no sidewalks). The "old" Wilderness Cove hosts events like a July 4th parade and mailbox decorating contest. There is a newer addition to Wilderness Cove off Chestnut that isn't at capacity yet (as of 2017). The two additions are NOT connected. This is a safe neighborhood but is not walking distance to anything (shopping, walking trails, etc). From this subdivision to the front gate of Vance AFB is about a 10-15 minute commute.

Pros Cons
  1. Nice, newer, well-kept homes
  2. Community with lots of military families
  3. Plenty of parking (driveway and street)
  1. No sidewalks
  2. No community amenities (pool, clubhouse, etc)

"Off Base North"

Quiet neighborhood, mostly military. Neighbors care about their yard and homes. Homes are well built. We enjoyed living there. Kids walked to the Elementary school and we were a short drive to Walmart, Braum's and such. I felt safe there and if we were stationed there again, I'd want to be in the same neighborhood or Pheasant Run if I could afford it :)
These homes rented quickly for a good price as we rented our home for a short bit before selling.

Pros Cons
  1. safe
  2. location
  3. military community
  4. good schools
  1. homes for sale often due to military moves
