Salem Woods: Off Base Neighborhood/Subdivision

I absolutely love the neighborhood and area. I would be content to homestead here forever ( as if that could ever happen, but a girl can dream). There are about 1000 homes in the neighborhood and it features a lot of cul de sacs. There are a ton of military families here, both active duty and retired. On my street alone, there are three retired military and one active duty.

We are in the heart of Virginia Beach. We are about 20 minutes without traffic from all of the bases in the area. (Norfolk Naval Station, Little Creek, Oceana, Damn Neck). The one criteria we gave to our realtor when we were looking to buy was that we wanted to be equidistant to all the bases and he delivered!

There is a civic association that arranges things for the community to do and the neighbors are all friendly.

Salem Woods is a great neighborhood with a lot to offer. Neighbors that look out for each other with out being in all of your business. A mix of all ages and backgrounds I would say that the schools are very good here in the area. I like both the Elem and High schools.. I have not had any interaction with the middle school yet.

NOB Norfolk 19 miles , 13 miles to JEB Little Creek, 10 miles to NAS Oceana and Roughly the same to Dam Neck.
