Northeast Pensacola: Off Base Area of Town

The number of great, free, parks and recreation spots is something important to us. Univ. of West Florida allows the use of their mountain bike trails, there's a new 5K Leap Trail around the airport as well as an inclusive playground at Roger Scott community center. Many neighborhoods also have open spaces and parks. There are soccer clubs, baseball, basketball, football and more. I love how my boys can go to a park, meet other neighborhood kids and get a pick up game of football or baseball. There are also several public areas for fishing and water access. Shopping is very convenient and as of 2014 improving by the day. Restaurants, while mostly chain, some local, are spreading to the northeast. But if you're looking for cultural things to do as well as more specialized shopping, downtown is only 20 min away. The beach is 25 min. We've been here over 3 years, have 4 boys and love it. We've been very pleased with the schools and are glad we've chosen NE Pensacola for our retirement!

In the area north of Bayou Blvd and east of Hwy 29 out to Scenic, there are lots of neighborhoods, parks, shopping and easy to get downtown. We have children in elem., middle and high school and are happy with all. Even have other options if we weren't that we'd be happy to use school of choice if needed. UWF is close and we've used the pool often and they also have bike/running trails. Lots of club sports for children and the parks & rec dept offers camps and things to do particularly in the summer. I like being close to downtown and all it has to offer, but also being even closer to the places we go to all the time. Also nice to have Pace right over the bridge. Have utilized vehicle repair and doctors in Pace, just as convenient as downtown. Being right off Scenic Hwy, going to Gulf Breeze and the beaches is quick and easy. While I let my older boys bike to just about anywhere in the area, would not recommend for younger ones unless we're on a trail or sidewalks.Happy to call it home
