"Small town living near Vandenberg"

If you're not going to live on base, Lompoc is about as close as you can get to base - without actually living on it.

Several nice local restaurants & very easy town to navigate. Good suburban option for Vandenberg, and more bang for your buck for housing, versus Santa Maria or Orcutt.
