They will quickly take your BAH but wont act that fast to get maintenance in your shack. Although in a crisis you will have plenty of food to hunt as mice and rats roam like pets around the homes. The staff is really rude and they don't care if your house is falling apart because maintenance sucks! funny part is they live across your house and they will take weeks to come fix non priority tickets like...my water heater doesn't work.
Commissary and BX close earl as well as the espress on the weekends, dont eat at the slip in, if you go at night you can see the rats in the kitchen, I mean if they roam around your house like pets.....Bad Experience

This is perfect housing for animal lovers, many houses come with 20-50 furry little friends (mice/rats) ready to be adopted! Play your cards right and maybe you'll be lucky enough to get a water feature in your house, of course it usually only works if someone is in the shower or its raining. Best part, you'll never need to see the doctor for antibiotics as many houses come with mold growing in the ducts. For entertainment there's the tattoo artist operating out of his garage, neighborhood swinger parties, and of course no night would be complete without picking up some smack from the corner drug dealer!! Maintenance is sketchy, but they make up for it by making sure the wife is aware she is the wife and they are the maintenance MEN.

There are two distinct areas of housing on JBAB, and we lived in the newer portion, down by NIU. This housing was great, but I did not hear nice things about the other end of the housing, so be aware when you get on the wait list. This privatized housing is run by Hunt, which is probably familiar to people who've lived elsewhere in military housing.

As I said in my review of the TLF here, the base is small, so nothing's really more than a 10-minute walk away. The library is also located with the PX and Commissary, so everything's pretty centrally located. There's a running track around the soccer fields, a baseball diamond, and the fitness center is over by TLF, too. The med Center is tiny, but if you need specialized care, you can head to Belvoir or Andrews, which are near...ish. Certainly if you need the ER, you need to leave JBAB.

Down by the water, there's a walking track, which is lovely year-round. The housing on JBAB installed a dog park (fenced in area partitioned into big dogs and small dogs), but I think anyone can use it. Our dog loved it! It has water bowls and everything.

Youth center runs a school bus program, which was fantastic! It has specific routes, but if you pick a school it doesn't already go to, they'll work with you. Free (or at least it was when we were there).

There's cub scouts and youth sports on the base, too, and the library was fantastic! They held movie night every Friday for the kids in the kids room, playing some sort of Disney/Pixar type movie. Sometimes they had popcorn and capri suns, too.

The base is very 7-4/Mon-Fri, though. It's pretty much shut down after 7pm during the week and practically empty on the weekends. Makes for a quiet area, but can sometimes feel eerie.
