My husband worked at the Norfolk Naval Base and we were able to get military housing in virginia beach. I absolutely loved it. The houses are two stories and have an awesome master bedroom with a a walk in closet and white picket fences. Its about a 5 minute drive to the beach at the most and same with the elementary school. There are really nice trails around the housing area to go running or walking with the kids. The NEX and commissary are about 10 minutes away from the housing which are also awesome. I loved all of the local businesses around that area such as the fresh grocery stores and discount clothing stores and home stores. Its an amazing area and you will have tons to do just right around your housing area. I loved the military housing and the whole area.
